Spring Forward 2007
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who showed up for the Spring Forward. It was an amazing day for biking in Sumner County.  The impact of 100+  riders out riding our local routes in for 2-5 hours was a huge promotional success for cycling in our area.  For those riders who weren’t able to make it, you missed a great ride.  The 33 mile course let a lot of people know where their fitness was for the season.  A tough route for the first 15 miles, then the riders were blessed with a tailwind on the final 8 miles.  The 64 mile riders were in for a scenic treat.
I highly recommend everyone take this route sometime.  B.E.A.utiful.  The front pack moved on together pretty nicely for about 38 miles, until they turned into the wind on Dobbins Pike for a nice 13 mile false flat head wind.  Amazingly, the spirits stayed high with all the riders, and everyone managed to make it in before cut-off.  The first group of 3 came in pretty quick at 3 hours and 35 minutes,  but the honorable mention has to go to Gary Sylvester who at 60+ years of age, came in just a couple of minutes behind.
With what money we earned,  we can make a contribution to the Hendersonville Greenways Committee with paid memberships to Bikesbelong.org and the League of American Wheelman.

A ride like this takes a lot of help, so I would really like to thank these people for the time, their concern, and their effort.  David Buckman and his wife , Bruce Day, Tom Evans,  the Principal at Station Camp High School,  the Sumner County Sherriff’s Department, American Spirit WearCraig Walker at Jimmy Johns in HendersonvilleDane and Deanna Burks, Becky Hughes, Dan and Liesel Smith, my Mom and Dad, and my Father-in-law, Carl Pederson, Sumner Regional Hospital, and TDOT for sweeping Long Hollow Pike for us.
